Gina Sikkema: a book of inspiration and truth

Gina Sikkema on Twitter: "I finished reading "Battle for the Soul of Canada" It is a book of inspiration and truth--a worthy read" Gina's book review on her website: "The author draws from a wealth of pioneering Christian Canadian leaders. He ties together the need for religious stability within our country to the same needs of the world following the death of Jesus. He brings to the forefront the words of encouragement offered by Paul to Timothy, making them relevant to the needs of the present day. He shares with Paul a love for the truth of Scripture, refusing to bow to the demands of a modern society to tell the people what they want to hear. This book is truly an inspiration to churches of all denominations who struggle to retain Scriptural truth as they deal with the overwhelming pressures of modern society."

Feedback from Elsie MacDonald

I was very pleased to receive your book from a mutual friend. I thought that your book was a godsend. It gave me hope that there are people out there on the side of truth which is so desperately needed. I told my friend that 'the book is so true'. A few years ago I kept hearing in my head what you said in your book on page 127: "Awake, awake O Zion, clothe yourselves with strength. Put on your garment of splendor...Shake off your dust, rise up...Free yourselves from the chains on your neck, O Captive Daughter of Zion. (Isaiah 52:1-2)" My spirit resonated with that statement in your book. I thank God for people like you who stand on the side of truth, and may your book be a blessing to all who read it. God bless you! Elsie MacDonald -former Chief of the Ojibway First Nation of Webique, North Western Ontario

Canada's God-given destiny -SALLY START

Ed Hird writes out of first hand experience on the Battle for the Soul of Canada. His passion for God's Truth, and for this nation to come fully into her God-given destiny, shines through every page. I was encouraged by the stories of those who have gone before us and personally challenged afresh to do my part to raise up this generation's Timothys and Timotheas. -Sally Start, National Ambassador, Alpha Canada

Provocative and appealing: Trevor Lautens

For an unbaptized, non-practising non-Christian, but with strong sympathy for and even envy of devout Christians, Rev. Hird's book strikes me as original, provocative and appealing, with interesting details about his own path to faith.

The value of transparency about our hidden fears

I really appreciate this book's transparency about the fears we too often keep hidden, and the author's practical tips for change.
The book reassures women that we're not alone in our fears. Others have been there and have found a way to overcome by relying on the promises of the God of the Bible.
I found this to be a contemplative book, good to read slowly and ponder. There are some gems of wisdom, and the simpler but strong faith of the Celtic Christians certainly has much to offer us today. I liked the practical applications at the end of each chapter that showed readers how to form their own prayers after the patterns of the Celts.
